The Council of Legal Education is established under the Legal Education Act, No. 27 of 2012 of the Laws of Kenya.

The core functions of the Council of Legal Education are to regulate legal education and training, to license and supervise legal education providers; conduct Bar Examinations; and to advice the Government on matters relating to legal education and training.

In order to efficiently and effectively deliver its functions, the Council wishes to recruit a full time high calibre staff in the following position:-

Procurement Assistant Job Overall purpose

• Reporting to the Senior Procurement, the successful candidate will assist Senior Procurement Officer in coordinating all procurement issues by ensuring that they are done as per the approved procedures.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparations of department work plans, procurement plans and budgets.
• Prepare , review and monitor Council’s material and service requirements and make recommendations to the senior procurement officer
• Review purchase requests and specifications from users to ensure that the right items/services are procured.
• Will verify quotations and tender documents for approval by the Senior Procurement officer before bidding process.
• Will be the secretary to the Council’s Procurement committee and will ensure implementation of the committee’s resolutions.
  Will evaluate overall price and past performance of each contractor /supplier and report to the senior procurement officer for further action
• Will ensure that Council’s stock holding policy is adhered to and there’s uninterrupted supply of materials to departments.
• Will supervise all other procurement staff and provide guidance
• Will perform any other duties as may be assigned to him by the management

Qualifications and Skills for Procurement Jobs in Kenya

• Diploma in purchasing and supplies management of equivalent with Professional qualification (KISM, CIPS)
• A Bachelor’s degree in an added advantage
• Minimum 3 (Three) years of relevant experience in a busy organization
• Must be conversant with the Public Procurement and Assets Disposal Act 2005 and the attendant Regulations 2006
• Proficient in IT

Salary Scale

Basic Pay: 40,250 x 2,012.50 to 42,262.50 x 2,012.50 to 44,275 x 2,012.50 to 46,287.50 x 2,012.50 to 48,300 x 2,012.50 to 50,312.50 x 2,012.50 to 52,325 x 2,012.50 to 54,337.50 x 2,012.50 to 56,350 x 2,012.50 to 58,362.50
House Allowance: Kshs.28,000
Commuter Allowance: Kshs.6,000
