Purpose of the Position
The Senior HIV and AIDS Specialist (Prevention) is responsible for providing regional technical leadership, guidance, and assistance to country programmes, shaping UNICEF's national programme efforts to reduce new infections among adolescents, and, more broadly, address underlying causes and drivers of adolescents' heightened risk and vulnerability to HIV. The incumbent will lead UNICEF's engagement in the joint UN Programme on HIV and AIDS's efforts to reduce new infections among adolescents, support the attainment of HIV Prevention targets, outcomes and outputs in UNICEF's Medium Term Strategic Plan, and aligned with ESAR's Regional Priorities, will also serve as UNICEF ESARO's focal point for multisectoral adolescent programming.
S/he will ensure harmonized and aligned HIV prevention technical assistance and support to national programmes by Joint UN Country Teams on HIV/AIDS. The incumbent will represent ESARO among development partners and within the Interagency HIV Prevention Working Group, and the regional HIV prevention coordination structure, supervised under the Regional Directors Team.
Key Expected Results
  1. Provide leadership in the provision of technical support and high-level guidance to UNICEF-supported country programmes and key partners for accelerating the implementation of evidence-informed HIV prevention interventions with and for adolescents in the region, including the strengthening of regional and country-level cosponsor support for the coordination, harmonization and alignment of national HIV prevention responses. Provide oversight, monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of the HIV prevention programme activities supported by country programmes. Promote the achievement by country programmes of the MTSP HIV Prevention targets by leading processes for the generation and dissemination of sub-regional and national level evidence on effective and innovative responses which effectively address the key drivers of the epidemic in the region.
  2. Lead the coordination of ESARO support to Country Office activities in Regional Priority 4, Results for Adolescents, by fostering cross-sectoral engagement and collaboration on adolescent programming, and providing overall strategic vision for regional and country programming.
  3. Provide high-quality oversight to country and regional office teams in the implementation of priority programming on adolescents, including ensuring data monitoring and accountability mechanisms on Regional Priority 4, as well as other relevant HIV initiatives on adolescents. Coordinate and review progress on related key indicators on HIV and adolescents and provide support to CO and RO colleagues to provide high quality reporting on results.
  4. Provide senior representation, leadership, coordination support and management for ESARO within the regional interagency working groups on HIV prevention through the provision of technical leadership to strengthen UN coherence, harmonization, and alignment on HIV prevention activities and processes within the region in support of the HIV prevention programmes with and for adolescents by national partners.Through high-level technical leadership, strategic advice and technical guidance support efficient regional-level capacity development assistance, the development and dissemination of strategic information, joint advocacy and resource mobilization in order to increase adolescents' access to and use of HIV prevention information, skills and services.
  5. Coordinate and guide broader multisectoral adolescent programming addressing an integrated approach to adolescent HIV Prevention, Treatment, Care and Support, and support other sectors including Protection, Education, and Health with the development of plans and strategies addressing the underlying causes of adolescent vulnerability.
Qualifications of Successful Candidate
  • Advanced university degree in one or more of the disciplines: Public Health, Public Health Administration, HIV/AIDS, Health Education, Medicine, Social Sciences or a field relevant to international development assistance in HIV/AIDS. Training in gender and in nutrition programmes that promote gender equality as an asset.
  • Ten years of relevant work experience at national and/or international level.
  • Experience working in the UN or other international development organization an asset.
  • Training and experience in HIVAIDS health care.
  • Background/familiarity with Emergency.
  • Experience in monitoring gender disparities and in programme interventions that reduce these disparities as an asset.
  • Fluency in English and another UN language.
  • Knowledge of the local working language of the duty station would be an asset.

Organizational Setting and Reporting
The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is the UN headquarters in Africa and the representative office of the Secretary-General. Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Chief, Security and Safety Section the incumbent (s) will be responsible for the following functions:-
  1. Provide leadership to the team by; planning assignments of the members during scheduled shifts; give instructions to the members and ensure that uniforms, communications equipment and other kits necessary for duty are provided; Ensure that posts are properly and effectively manned and duties properly executed.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position fluency in oral and written English is required. Working knowledge of another UN language is desirable

Organizational Background
The World Food Programme Somalia activities include food assistance for relief, emergency school feeding, humanitarian air and logistics services, food coordination and emergency rehabilitation projects.

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Pipeline and Resource Management and the overall supervision of the Head of Programme, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
  1. Pipeline Management
  • Collate and analyze data for the preparation of monthly actualized and accurate pipeline reports in terms of food needs, cash & vouchers, opening stocks, balances, arrivals, loans and repayments and shortfalls;
  • Contribute to the preparation of downstream allocation plan in coordination with the Logistics Unit;
  • Prepare upstream and downstream pipeline analysis reports;
  • Run the secretariat of the monthly Pipeline Committee meetings.
  1. Funds Management

  • Provide support in the preparation of requests for advance financing as required;

  1. Budget Management
  • Participate in the review of existing budgets and preparation of new budgets;
  • Follow-up on approval process and perform technical budgets functions in WFP financial system;
  • Provide support to the relevant Units in the management of the approved associated cost budget;

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Advanced University degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or other relevant field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.
Experience: At least three years of postgraduate professional experience in commerce, development, administration or food aid support. Proven experience in development of operational or office related budgets, planning/budgetary reports and other analytical reports . Experience in supply chain management would be an asset.
Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English is a requirement.
Knowledge: Experience utilising computers including word processing, spreadsheet and other software packages. Knowledge of WFP regulations and rules, and WFP policies and procedures in the area of work would be an added advantage.

Background
The situation in Somalia remains fragile with continued political instability, climatic variability, and lack of basic social services. OCHA's role is to coordinate effective and principled inter-agency humanitarian response and ensure that relief assistance reaches the people who need it in a timely manner.
In line with OCHA's global mission, OCHA Somalia continues to
  • Advocate for access to basic services, especially water, sanitation, education and health for vulnerable communities, including the collection, analysis and dissemination of information to humanitarian partners, and negotiation of access;
  • Support the government efforts and humanitarian organizations in relocation of internally displaced and return;
  • Coordinate the implementation of humanitarian response in Somalia with UN agencies and programmes, national and international NGOs and local authorities/communities as appropriate, with focus on strengthening the cluster approach;
  • Enhance a protective environment that respects the human rights of all, including IDPs, returnees and minority clans analysis and dissemination of information to humanitarian partners, and negotiation of access.
OCHA on behalf of the Humanitarian Coordinator produces period press releases issued to inform the general public and for advocacy purposes. Besides this, the office also produces other briefing materials especially during the Consolidated Appeal launch that require the services of a Turkish Translator.
Duties and Responsibilities
The contractor will
  • Translate and proof-read documents and reports on a variety of subjects. All text, including text contained in figures, boxes, tables, photo captions, sources and covers requires translation and proof reading. Proofreading and editing will be done primarily using Adobe Acrobat 6. Proofreading and editing of MS Word documents will make use of track changes;
  • When required, translate into Turkish OCHA external documents such as: press releases, media advisories, editorials, public statements of the Humanitarian Coordinator, Emergency Relief Coordinator or other humanitarian officials, speeches, talking points, and any other public. The translated document has to be delivered in MS Word, PowerPoint or Excel files as required;
  • Perform terminology research (i.e. on UN/OCHA style guide/UNTerm websites and others) to ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of all translations;
  • Ensure quality and accuracy of the entire document before submitting.
Monitoring and Progress controls
Under the direct supervision of the requesting Unit Manager, the consultant will submit progress reports depending on the duration and agreement on that particular assignment. The work of the translator is evaluated every time they submit their work for quality control purposes.
Final product/Deliverables
  • Deliver translated text in MS Word, PowerPoint or Excel files, as required. The anticipated press releases for translation will be approximately 700words, other documents for translation will vary from time to time;
  • Translated text, including text contained in figures, boxes, tables, photo captions, sources and covers.
Review/approval time
Each assignment will be reviewed upon completion before undertaking a fresh assignment. The translated material to be submitted to the Head, Public Information Unit for approval and certification.

Organizational Setting and Reporting
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-HABITAT, is the agency for human settlements. Narrative Description
Reporting to the Vice President, Africa, the incumbent will act as IATA's representative in Eastern Africa and will be responsible for the delivery of IATA's agenda, the achievement of the set objectives for the assigned countries and for the management of the country office.
Responsibilities
  • Lead, motivate and develop a local office team to deliver IATA's agenda in the respective country(ies);
  • Build and maintain pro-active, professional and top management level relationships with member airlines (including the local representatives of foreign airlines) and other industry stakeholders, including airports, ANSP authorities, suppliers and service providers in the assigned countries or region, as well as with non-member airlines in both the passenger value chain and the cargo supply chain;

Position Summary: Relief International currently seeks an Africa Regional Program Development Manager (RPDM). Supply Chain Officer - Procurement, Kenya
