Pursuant to the Constitution of Kenya (2010) and the County Government Act No. 17 of 2012, the County Government of Kakamega invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the following vacant positions:-
I. Advertisement
Chief Officer, Office Of The Governor – Job Group ‘S’ (1 Post)
The Chief Officer shall be authorized officer, Office of the Governor.

Chief Officer Duties and Responsibilities

  • Composition  and generation of  correspondence with regard to Governor’s official activities;
  • Coordination of activities and reporting structures in the Governor’s office;
  • Preparation and maintenance of reports in the office;
  • Preparation of  periodic performance reports or presentations;
  • Induction, training and development of staff in the office;
  • Work closely with the County Chief Officer responsible for Public Service and Administration, on matters of staffing, skills, deployment and performance management;
  • Implement policies of the national government, CEC and County Assembly legislation, as appropriate;
  • Motivate staff of the department;
  • Cultivate professionalism in the Department;
  • Planning and Budgeting for all programs in the Governor’s Office;
  • Provide supervision for the Communication, Protocol and Liaison offices; and
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Requirements for Appointment to the Kenyan Chief Officer Jobs

  • Be a Kenya citizen.
  • Have a Bachelor’s degree from a university recognized in Kenya;
  • Possession of a Master’s degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
  • Have vast knowledge and experience of not less than 10 years in the relevant field, five of which should be in a managerial position
  • Demonstrate through understanding of county development objectives and vision 2030
  • Be a strategic thinker and result oriented
  • Have excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Have capacity to work under pressure to meet timelines
  • Have ability to work in a multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity Satisfies the requirement of Chapter Six of the Constitution
  • Demonstrate understanding and commitment to the values and principles as outlined in Articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
  • Be computer literate.
Terms of Service: Contract
Note:  applicants for the above positions are required to get clearance from the following institutions to meet requirements of chapter six:
  • Kenya Revenue Authority
  • Higher Education Loans Board
  • Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission
  • Criminal Investigation Department
  • Credit Reference Bureau
Copies of these clearances MUST be attached to the applications.
