Organizational background
The World Food Programme Somalia activities include food assistance for nutrition, livelihoods, relief and emergency school feeding, while also supporting humanitarian air and logistics services, food security coordination and infrastructure rehabilitation projects.
This position is open to qualified Somali candidates with good knowledge of the local area. Female candidates in particular, are encouraged to apply.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the WFP Field Security Officer (FSO) and under the overall supervision of the Head of Area Office Bossaso, the incumbent undertakes the following responsibilities:
•    Assist in reviewing countrywide security situation on a daily basis and  provide preliminary analysis as required,
•    Day to day supervision of the guards and the government provided Special Protection Units (SPU),
•    Assist in maintaining the Security Plan up-to-date, including updating list of staff and eligible family members,
•    Contribute to the update of fire safety arrangements,
•    Maintain Minimum Operational Security Standards (MOSS) for equipment , assist in developing and implementing MOSS and ensuring that all WFP offices are compliant,
•    Monitor the security service of the  guards and ensure continuous coverage of security check points at all times,
•    Maintaining a weekly security  guard shift  and process  of overtime schedules,
•    Intervene personally to resolve problems or refer them immediately to the supervisor,
•    Instruct personnel in the performance of security services,
•    Maintain and ensure that security records are properly kept and updated,
•    Respond to personnel and telephone enquiries and provide appropriate information,
•    Supervise the issuance of building passes and issue building passes,
•    Prepare for the arrival of groups and special guests to WFP,
•    Investigate and provide report on all incidents that involve a breach of security procedures,
•    Report all suspicious activities threat or risk,
•    Liaise as necessary with the local administration, police authorities, fire services and other emergency services,
•    Supervise ,train and discipline  other security staff ,
•    Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Secondary school education supplemented by courses/diploma in security training and/or certified graduation from military/police academy.
Experience: Four years of security experience within a national/military police or a private security company.
Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Somali is a requirement
Knowledge: Background directly related with security issues. Good political and social knowledge of the country. Training and/or practical experience in maintaining electronic security databases, using standard computer applications and operation of the automated alarm and video surveillance systems. Knowledge of how to operate metal detectors and other security equipment.
