Abstract: Over the last two years Medair in partnership with LNGO AL-DAWA and ZAMZAM has been actively involved in promoting access to service delivery in Somalia.
In the course of this period the scope and volume of activities and processes has been enhanced significantly leading to impressive outputs and outcomes.
In the new project phase starting in July 2015, an increase in activities is planned. Medair is therefore looking for reinforcement of the team that implements the project in and around Mogadishu, so as to improve the quality of the health care offered on health facility and community level.
Goals
The Senior Health Manager develops, leads, monitors and evaluates the assigned health project(s), effectively managing and reporting on the projects in line with the objectives, timeframe and budget with a focus on health system strengthening, training and coordination.Manage and train primary health care staff to meet international quality standards in health care delivery.
Encourage beneficiary participation, liaise with other stakeholders, and anticipate, plan, and contribute to the development of new health project proposals and reports
Functions
- Manage the health projects to improve the quality of health care offered
- Manage staff
- Manage budgets, timelines and initiate procurement to avoid stock-outs.
Essential Qualification for health Manager Jobs in Kenya
- Higher level qualification, preferably in health or in another relevant field such as nursing / midwifery / medicine / community-based training, preferably with a University degree in a relevant subject, such as nutrition, nursing, medicine or public health
- 2 years post-qualification professional experience in a relevant field
- Management experience in a nutrition / health context
- Good English (spoken and written)
- Ability to adapt to the local Somali context, including language
- Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Experience with Health project management and evaluation, team facilitation, data analysis, and/or case review
Supervision: Position performs under the supervision of the Senior Project Manager.
Working Conditions: Currently Medair operates its Mogadishu activities from a base in Mogadishu. Working hours are 8:00 until 4:30 pm, Sunday till Thursday.
Security is of utmost importance and routine team briefings give information and advise both nationals and internationals to the evolving security status.
Regular field visits to health facilities in and around Mogadishu
