Department Overview

  • Pact is recruiting a Project Manager for an anticipated financial inclusion project. The project will improve access to and use of credit-based payment systems through a behavioral change training program that equips all stakeholders in the payment value chain (banks, merchant owners, merchant staff and consumers) with the knowledge they need to make and accept digital payments confidently.

Project Manager Position Purpose

  • The Project Manager is responsible for technical leadership of the project and overall project management.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Director will:

  • Manage the overall program staff, consortium, and budget;
  • Ensure the program achieves agreed-upon results in close collaboration with US-based project management and financial teams;
  • Liaise with host country government, donors, civil society, and private businesses to move the program forward and leverage resources;
  • Provide technical oversight and leadership to program team on best practices on institutional financial inclusion, digital financial services, and client protection
  • Oversee the development and implementation of program planning, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting activities; and
  • Ensure effective application of internal controls, donor, and Pact policies and procedures.

Basic Requirements

  • Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience managing international development program management, including experience managing poverty alleviation, financial inclusion, and or banking programs.
  • MA degree in economics, business administration, finance or a related subject;
  • Fluency in English, strong writing and presentation skills;
  • Experience in cashless banking and merchant value chains and strong familiarity with Kenyan financial inclusion landscape
  • Experience in delivering training and other capacity building activities and behavior chance communication
  • Experience in managing complex programs, staff, and program budget;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Experience working in Kenya and/or East Africa; and

Preferred Qualifications for Project Manager Kenyan Jobs

  • Experience working with corporate donor programs
