Driven by local needs, our programs provide communities in the world’s toughest places with the tools and support they need to turn the crises they confront into the opportunities they deserve.
Mercy Corps has had a presence in Kenya since its humanitarian response to the post-election violence in 2008. Mercy Corps works almost exclusively in high-risk conflict and post-conflict environments.
While we recognize that these are difficult places to operate, we believe that transitional environments – countries affected by civil wars, economic and political crisis, or natural disasters – also offer tremendous opportunities for positive change.
We currently implement over 30 peace building programs in some of the world’s toughest places, including Iraq, Somalia, and Sudan. Our current work builds on an exceptionally strong historical foundation.
