Our client is a motorcycle manufacturing company based in Nairobi. They seek to hire an import/ export officer to facilitate the shipment of items to and from the company.

Import Officer Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Negotiation of shipping agencies’ fees
• Check fiscal prices, custom requirements and clearing fees
• Get the optimal, most efficient and cost effective shipping, transport and clearing method
• Track shipments and follow up with the forwarder regarding arrival dates at the ports
• Send clear instructions to the shipper regarding the clearing documentation as per the requirements
• Follow up closely on the customs clearance and delivery process
• Give overall logistical support to all departments

Key Requirements for Import Officer Jobs in Kenya

• A minimum of Diploma in Clearing and Forwarding or a related field
• Minimum of 4 years work experience in clearing and forwarding
• Basic understanding of clearing and forwarding regulations
• Good communication skills and positive attitude
• Reliable, honest and be a person of good Integrity
• Should have good Supervisory and Organizational skills
• Able to set and maintain high standards
• Should be computer literate
