The Youth Banner is a not for profit making organization which is undergoing a strategic transition across its program and operations units and part of its milestones is to ensure that it attracts, develops and retains high performing employees

HR &  Admin Manager Job Purpose

  • The HR & Admin manager will be part of the management team that will be involved in the strategic planning process and development of a succession plan for the organization.
  • He/she will be in charge of all the human resources and administration systems, policies and procedures; directly supervising the following heads of departments-mentorship, communications, procurement, M&E, field coordination and the office assistant. He/she will also be in charge of the procurement of office supplies and equipment for the organization.

Other duties and responsibilities

  • Enhancing compliance and adherence of all policies and procedures
  • Lead the human resource function in creating a culture of excellence
  • Provide leadership and support to managers on employee relations, performance management, compliance, disciplinary actions and other employee matters
  • Confer with management to identify personnel needs , job descriptions and job specifications
  • Fill in employee gaps identified through recruitment of competent, consistent and committed individuals
  • Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling.
  • Implement and update the employee handbook
  • Effectively manage employee disciplinary procedures by ensuring that all disciplinary and termination process comply with applicable laws, policies and procedures
  • Maintenance of employee attendance, leave and absenteeism issues
  • Keeping reliable records on employees by ensuring that they are updated regularly
  • Notifying managers and employees on changes in policies and procedures
  • Payroll preparation
  • Supervise administrative and support staff by thorough orientation, guidance and follow up
  • Any other duties as instructed

Specifications

  • Degree in human resource management or a related field
  • HRM professional certification is an added advantage
  • 5 years experience in HR or administration supervisory role with more than 50 employees
  • CPA part 11
  • Excellent knowledge of human resource practices and Kenyan Labor laws
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Experience in NGO is an added advantage
  • Strong interpersonal, problem solving, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in computer packages (word, excel, spreadsheet)
