Vacancy: Accountant
Required: To perform accounting functions related to the collection, accuracy, recording, analysis and presentation of the company’s financial operations.

Scope of Work

• Maintain an Accounting system that enables the company to extract financial reports for management decision making.
• Application of accounting information on to the accounting software in use.Classifying, analyzing and recording financial transactions based on supporting documents and authorizations.
• Generating comprehensive financial statements of the company.
• Ensuring the Company remains Tax Compliant.
• Processing payments for approved business activities.
• Ongoing maintenance of accounting records.

Accountant Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare reconciliations for the various Company bank accounts.
• Prepare the Monthly payroll.
• Remit statutory deductions: PAYE (Pay As You Earn), NHIF (National Hospital Insurance Fund), NSSF (National Social Security), and HELB (Higher
• Education Loans Board) payments to the respective authorities.
• File and submit VAT returns.
• Update the Input and Output VAT schedules.
• Prepare and submit withholding taxes.
• File quarterly Income Tax returns.
• Maintain and update an accurate record of office expenses and reconcile the same on monthly basis.
• Handle, issue and reconcile petty cash on a monthly basis.
• Update creditors schedules ensuring outstanding invoices are properly supported by LPOs, delivery notes, and other supporting documents and filed properly.
• Prepare Approval for Expenditure (AFEs) and/or Purchase Orders for all office requisitions.
• Prepare cheque and cash payment vouchers after ensuring that they are duly supported with an invoice of payment requisition.
• Input cheque payments into the accounting software after ensuring that they have a duly signed and approved Cheque payment documentation.
• Input cash payment into the system after ensuring that they are duly supported with receipts and payment vouchers.
• Exercise discretion and confidentiality in handling financial information.

Minimum Requirements for Accountant Jobs in Kenya

• University degree in Accounting or Finance from a recognized university.
• Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (CPA-K) finalist.
• Two (2) years working experience in a similar position, in a well known firm.
• Certificate of Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and use of E-mail.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English.

• Organized, methodical and accurate.
• Able to work to strict deadlines and under pressure, independently with minimal supervision.
• Integrity and discrete in handling company affairs.
• Motivated with a demonstrated ability to adapt to new working methods.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment.
